Time to Apply: Governor's Iowa Environmental Excellence Awards
DES MOINES--Governor Vilsack and the State of Iowa invite you apply for the prestigious 2002 Iowa Environmental Excellence Awards, designed to recognize leadership and innovation in managing our state's natural resources.

The Environmental Excellence Awards will recognize Iowa organizations, businesses and individuals who demonstrate leadership, innovation and a comprehensive environmental ethic in effectively managing natural resources
Sponsors
These awards are coordinated by the Governor's Office, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Iowa Department of Economic Development, the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of Education.
Who Can Apply
Categories are divided according to the following organization types:
Community/Local Government
Large Business and Industry (More than 200 employees)
Small Business and Industry (Up to 200 employees)
Institution/Public Sector Facility (hospital, school, college, etc.)
Agriculture (operation, farm or other ag-related business or organization)
Service/Civic/Nonprofit Organization (Kiwanis, Lions Club, Pheasants Forever, etc.)
Awards will be given in the following categories:
Environmental excellence award
Special recognition award in air quality
Special recognition award in water quality
Special recognition award in waste management
Special recognition award in energy efficiency/renewable energy development
Special recognition award in habitat
Deadlines
Applications must be postmarked by September 27, 2002.
Awards will be announced and presented in December 2002.
