STATE RESPONDS TO SURVEY: OFFERS MORE ASBESTOS TRAINING

A recent Department of Economic Development survey of local governments, chambers of commerce and other business partners indicated a desire to learn more about federal asbestos rules and the state is filling the need.

To assist, the Departments of Economic Development and Natural Resources are hosting a series of statewide workshops for public officials, economic developers and others in an interactive forum to educate those new to asbestos or to clarify regulatory questions.

The workshops will highlight federal asbestos emission standards that apply for building renovation and demolition, and a question and answer session with the DNR's asbestos NESHAP inspector.

DNR will offer in depth training to fire departments later this autumn for asbestos inspector certification.

Workshops begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. Dates and locations include:
