New Greenhouse Gas Construction Permit Form
June 21, 2007
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now required to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions through air construction permits and prevention of significant deterioration permits as amended by Senate File 485 to Iowa Code 455B.131. This additional data will be reported on form GHG, posted on our website at www.iowacleanair.com/prof/ghg/ghg.html.
Starting July 2, 2007, construction permit applications must include potential greenhouse gas emissions for projects. Applications received without this information will be considered incomplete and permits cannot be issued until the information is received. Linn County and Polk County air permitting programs are subject to the same requirements.
Additional information, including a list of greenhouse gases, is included with form GHG. Iowa Code 455B.131, as amended by Senate File 485, defines greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride.
Information on emissions factors will be posted to the DNR greenhouse gas emissions website within the next week.
