The Climate Registry Protocol will be Webcast February 20

A technical public workshop explaining proposed changes between draft and final General Reporting Protocol and the draft General Verification Protocol for The Climate Registry will be webcast Wednesday, February 20 from Chicago . The morning session, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will outline proposed changes between the draft and final General Reporting Protocol and solicit comments on those changes. In the afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the draft General Verification Protocol will be presented for discussion and comment. The Verification Protocol is now available at www.theclimateregistry.org. This protocol gives detailed guidance on the process of verification, along with the accreditation process for verifiers. Once a final version has been adopted, the Registry will begin the process of accrediting verifiers. The accreditation process is expected to begin in the spring.

The Climate Registry is a collaboration between states, provinces and tribes aimed at developing and managing a common greenhouse gas emissions reporting system with high integrity that is capable of supporting various greenhouse gas emission reporting and reduction policies for its member states, tribes and reporting entities, including the state of Iowa . It will provide an accurate, complete, consistent, transparent and verified set of greenhouse gas emissions data from reporting entities, supported by a robust accounting and verification infrastructure.
