Ensign Hollow, one of four catch-and-release trout streams in Iowa,
provides trout anglers with the opportunity of catching crafty stream-reared
trout. Stocked with brown and rainbow trout fingerlings yearly, Ensign
Hollow has a healthy population of brown trout. Fish in the 8 to 14 inch
size range are common, with fish up to 24 inches present. |
 |
Anglers should keep in mind that Ensign Hollow
is a catch-and-release, artificial lures only stream. Due to Ensign
Hollow's small size and large quantity of man-made bankhides, it can prove
to be a rewarding challenge. In mid-summer, Ensign Hollow may become overgrown
with terrestrial vegetation, making fishing difficult. Best to avoid this
by fishing from late fall, through the winter, and into spring. |
