French Creek

Stocked by Big Springs Natural Reproduction Camping Public Land Available
Special Regulations

French Creek is managed entirely for wild trout populations. No stocking of trout is done in French Creek. The two upper branches of French Creek support wild brook trout. Below the confluence of these two branches wild brown trout are well established. The highest brown trout populations are in the area downstream of French Creek Dr. with numbers approaching 2500 brown trout per mile of stream. Much of this stream is within the French Creek Wildlife Management Area and primitive camping is allowed on these state owned properties. Water quality in French Creek is outstanding and natural reproduction of Brown Trout is very consistent. Remember, all brown trout caught in this stream must be immediately released and you can only fish with artificial lures. Angling is allowed on all properties, public and private, upstream of Hartley Drive.
