Lampetra appendix
- Characteristics - upper body is olive-green to brown above, fading to light below, dorsal fin is completely divided into two distinct fins, teeth are weak and in clusters
- Distribution - limited to the smaller streams in the northeast quarter of Iowa, the secretive nature of its habits makes knowledge of its distribution rather vague and undetermined
- Foods - larval stage feeds on minute plants, animals and bits of organic matter, adult digestive system is non-functional indicating that no food is consumed from fall until spring
- Adult Length - 5 - 8 inches
