Notropis heterolepis
- Characteristics - olive-yellow on the back with silvery sides and whitish belly, conspicuous lateral band with vertical black crescents which does not extend to chin, sub-terminal mouth
- Distribution - once found in scattered locations in streams throughout the upper two-thirds of Iowa but most recently found only in several small streams in Clay, Dickinson, and Osceola counties
- Foods - zooplankton
- Adult Length - 2 1/2 inches
