Fishery management teams use information gathered in fishery surveys
as well as public input to determine regulations. The end result are regulations
designed to provide specific types of fishing. Not all regulations are
the same across the state because not all lakes are the same. Different
lakes have different potentials. The kind of fishing opportunity that fishery
managers attempt to provide is based on what is locally available and what
a specific lake is suitable for. Look for specific regulations posted at
boat ramps and other areas when fishing a new lake. If you see signs
that list regulations different from the statewide regulations, pay attention!
Only lakes, rivers and streams with alternative regulations have regulations posted!
