Catfish


The following regulations pertain to channel and flathead catfish.

Inland Lakes

These lakes contain catfish which come from hatcheries and must be restocked to maintain the fish population.

The season in open all year.
The daily bag limit is 8.
The possession limit is 30.



Inland Streams and Federal flood control reservoirs

These streams have naturally reproducing populations, and do not need continued restocking.

The season is open all year.
The daily bag limit is 15. The possession limit is 30.


Boundary Rivers

The season is open all year.
Same as inland streams except there is no bag or possession limit in the Mississippi River.



Iowa and Minnesota Border Lakes

The season is closed February 16 through the Friday before the Saturday closest to May 1.
The daily bag and possession limit is 8 channel catfish.
No minimum length limits.
