Northern Pike


Inland waters

The season is open all year on inland waters.

The daily bag limit is 3 northern pike, the possession limit is 6 northern pike.



Border Lakes

The closed season on walleye is from February 16 through the Friday before the Saturday closest to May 1:
  • Little Spirit Lake, Dickinson County
  • Iowa Lake, Emmet County
  • Tuttle (Okamanpedan) Lake, Emmet County
  • Burt (Swag) Lake, Kossuth County
  • Iowa Lake, Osceola County

The daily bag limit and possession limit is 3 northern pike in these lakes.



Boundary Rivers

The season is open all year on northern pike.
The daily bag limit is 5 northern pike except on the Big Sioux River.
The possession limit is 10 northern pike except on the Big Sioux River.
There is a 6 daily bag and 12 possession limit on the Big Sioux River that form a common boundary between Iowa and South Dakota.
