Holst State Forest is located 1/2 mile south and 1/4 mile west
of Fraser in Boone county. It consists of 314 acres of upland hardwood
forest and small areas of conifers. It has one graveled road access,
but very limited internal vehicular access.
ATV’s and off road vehicles are prohibited. There are no facilities or water
available. Hiking, bird watching, and hunting opportunities are
plentiful. The primary game species are squirrels, rabbits, turkey,
and whitetail deer.
