Information about forestry can be found on the home pages of many forestry oriented organizations. Some are listed below.

Iowa State University Forestry Extension. This home page provides information on forestry education, forestry publications, forestry assistance and the ISU Forestry Department Staff.

Northeastern Area State & Private Forestry's home page provides forestry information on issues of special interest to the Northeastern United States. It provides information on forest health, the cooperative fire prevention program, forest resource management and the Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl programs. It provides organizational directories and addresses of state and federal government officials who work in forestry programs in the northeast.

The home page of the U.S.D.A. Forest Service provides information about Forest Service programs and the national forests.

The USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station web site offers the largest known collection of on-line publications relating to forestry research. This well designed and interactive site presents the work of over 100 scientists who conduct research on forest resources, ecosystems, wildlife, and environmental quality in the Southern United States. Query the publications database, view on-line database and interact with some of the best and brightest of forest research.

Society of American Foresters provides information about publications and policies of the Society of American Foresters. An important feature of the site is information about legislation and national policy and how it affects forestry issues in the United States and throughout the world. SAF is the governing society of professional forestry in the United States.

National Association of State Foresters provides a directory of state foresters and links to state forestry organizations and the U.S. Forest Service. It makes available, NASF's monthly newsletter and additional forestry links.

The Forest Products Industry and Forestry Associations, Councils and Societies home page provides links to councils, associations, societies, institutes, manufacturers, centers, partnerships, consortiums, orders, foundations, industries, federations, boards and producers. It also links to many more directories.

The World Wide Web Virtual Library of Forestry
contains links that are categorized mainly by the host organization. The service is provided by the Library of the Finnish Forest Research Institute. This site contains a wealth of forestry information from all over the world.

For data on trees and other plants as well as animals, go to Fire effects database. This site is designed to provide professionals with information about fire effects on plants and animals, but in doing so, provides tons of information about habitats, uses, life histories, etc.

A great web site where young people, and adults too, can learn about pulp and paper is TAPPI'S NEW WEB SITE FOR KIDS. Go here to learn about pulp and paper, environmental facts and some fun projects using paper. The site is excellent for school projects and to supplement school work.
