New Method for Obtaining IGSB Well
Search
A web-based program for acquiring Iowa Geologic Survey Bureau (IGSB) well
searches has been created for use in assessment and monitoring reports. Once
registered, environmental professionals may access the site to conduct well
searches at no charge. To register for the new application, complete the
following:
- Go to
http://programs.iowadnr.gov/wellsearch/pages/wslogon.aspx
- Click on the link "To subscribe to Well Search" and register. Note: your
username will be the email address you use to register.
- Click on the Help button for directions to use the application
Within 24 hours you will receive a confirmation email indicating you have
successfully registered to use the system. Well searches obtained by the new
method are acceptable for use in reports effective immediately. Note: you are
required to submit all sections of the well search report, including the map or
aerial photo.
Changes you may notice using the new application:
- Many duplicate results should be eliminated
- Municipal and non-municipal public wells have been combined in one search
category called "Public Wells"
- A Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database (for public
supply permits) has been added for wells not listed in other databases
- Hyperlinks are available for wells listed in GEOSAM (click on the well
number in the results section to view well construction details)
- Conduct a search by LUST number, UST registration number, address, or
create your own buffer point by using the Interactive Map function
- LUST sites and registered tank sites are visible on the maps and aerial
photos
The search results may appear different due to the changes in configuration
of the search databases. As always, it is imperative that consultants supplement
IGSB well searches by contacting local authorities and by conducting onsite well
searches.
