DES MOINES – A new interagency group will meet April 21 to address issues that impact the Missouri River basin.

Their goal is to represent and enhance Iowa’s interests at meetings of the larger Missouri River Association of States and Tribes, which covers the entire multi-state river basin. The Iowa authority will seek consensus on issues impacting Iowa’s portion of the river and present them at a May meeting in Great Falls, Mont.

Members of the state’s interagency Missouri River Authority include the Governor’s office; the Secretary of Agriculture: the Chair of the Utilities Board; and the Directors of the departments of natural resources, transportation and economic development; or their designees.

The first meeting is from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on April 21 in the third floor conference room of the Wallace State Office Building, 502 East Ninth St. in Des Moines. The meeting is open to the public.

The complete agenda is available on the state public meetings calendar at http://www.iowa.gov/state/main/pmc/pmc.php under Department of Natural Resources.
