Pine Lake State Park is located along Pine Creek near its confluence with the Iowa River. Pine Lake was the first lake
built by the state and today the two lakes are a major attraction in the 572-acre park. The lakes were named because
of the abundance of white pine trees, some of which are more than two hundred years old. Ten miles of hiking trails
wind through the woods around the lake and a sandy swimming beach. The campground has 128 sites, with electrical
hook-ups, and a shower/restroom. Family cabins are also available.
George Wyth State Park is located on the Cedar River within the Waterloo/Cedar Falls metropolitan area. There are six
miles of paved trails in the park with two connections to the metropolitan trail system.
George Wyth is unique in that it has several water areas: East Lake (120 acres), Fisher Lake (40 acres), Alice Wyth
Lake (67 acres), the Cedar River and the 75-acre George Wyth Lake, which has a beach that is one of the most popular
swimming spots in the area. The campground has 48 sites with showers and restrooms.
