The Iowa DNR collects personal information under the following circumstances:

Accessibility Policy
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act is a civil rights law that provides individuals with disabilities protection from discrimination in relation to their disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act has included more businesses and agencies that must comply with the non-discrimination and accessibility provisions of the law.Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act states that "no qualified individual with a disability in the United States shall be excluded from, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under" any program or activity that either receives Federal financial assistance or is conducted by any Executive agency.

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act has established requirements for electronic and information technology developed, maintained, procured or used by the Federal government. Federal electronic and information technology must be accessible to people with disabilities, including employees and members of the public.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resource's Web Site has been designed and maintained in compliance with Section 508 Compliance and is constantly undergoing progressive measures to assure complete compliance. This site was coded to comply with both he American's With Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Priority 1 Level Checkpoints of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.

State of Iowa Phishing Statement
Phishing is a form of online identity theft that tries to steal personal identity data and financial account credentials. Scam artists "phish" for victims by sending out email messages pretending to be from banks, stores or government agencies. These emails lead individuals to counterfeit websites designed to trick them into divulging sensitive data. Phishing attempts ask individuals for information such as: bank account numbers; credit card information; passwords and PINs; social security numbers; dates of birth; and other personal information.

The State of Iowa never requests personal information, like credit card numbers, social security numbers or passwords, via email. Anyone who receives an e-mail message that appears to be from the State of Iowa and asks for confidential or sensitive information should consider it to be fraudulent and should not follow the instructions in the e-mail.

If you receive an unsolicited e-mail that appears to come from the State of Iowa that asks for personal information, please notify the State of Iowa's Information Security Office (ciso@iowa.gov or 515-281-4820) immediately.

You may also file formal a complaint concerning fraudulent e-mail with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) at www.ic3.gov. The IFCC is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National White Collar Crime Center.
