About DNR Waste Management

Welcome to the Waste Management pages of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources' Web site.

The DNR helps Iowa citizens, businesses and communities create a cleaner environment and stronger economy through the sustainable use of natural resources. Effective waste management and pollution prevention activities are two proven strategies for meeting that goal.

The DNR's Energy and Waste Management Bureau is the state's core agency for assisting Iowa businesses and residences with waste management goals, while regulating Iowa's solid waste facilities.

Waste management practices are also tied to energy use. We develop educational, financial and public communication programs that promote energy efficiency and renewable energy resources.

The DNR is here to provide the assistance you need to protect Iowa's environment and establish a strong economic future. Please contact us with any questions or ideas. Thank you for your interest and involvement.
