Household Hazardous Materials General Awareness Grants Program

The goal of this program is to educate the public about proper purchases, use, storage and disposal of household hazardous materials.

Selected applicants also communicate about alternative, environmentally friendly products to help protect human health and reduce the toxicity of the municipal waste stream.

Eligible applicants include any unit of local government, public or private organizations, regional collection centers and businesses with an interest in or responsibility for the management of household hazardous materials.

Funds can be used for the development, purchase and distribution of items and materials that will assist in public awareness by:

  • Identifying Household Hazardous Materials products

  • Promoting awareness of safer alternatives

  • Promoting awareness of proper use, storage and disposal options
