The Continuous Conservation Reserve Program provides rental equivalents typically $90 to $175 per acre competitive
with current cash rents, for land dedicated to several conservation practices.
The Clear Creek Watershed Project offers 75 percent cost share for grade stabilization structures, grassed watersways
water and sediment control basins, and incentive payments for no-till and nutrient management.
Practices with up to 90 percent cost share from establishment
include:
Contour Grass Strips (CP15A): Narrow bands of perennial vegetation across the slope of the field alternated
with wider strips of crops; field borders may be intergrated into system.
Filter Strips (CP21): Strips of grass along a stream or other body of water.
Riparian Buffers (CP22): Streamside plantings of trees, shrubs and grasses.
Wetland Restoration (CP23): Either uplands or floodplains. No acreage limit with 1:6 ratio of wetlands
to buffer area.
Conservation buffers can remove up to 50 percent of nutrients and pesticides, up to 60 percent of some pathogens,
slow erosion and remove up to 80 percent of sediment from runoff waters. Also, they can protect people, crops, livestock,
wildlife, buildings and roads from windblown soil and snow.
